16th Afghan War Soldier Killed in Combat Is Canada's First Woman

Capt. Nichola Kathleen Sarah Goddard was the first ever female Canadian Soldier killed in combat. Captain Goddard a 26-year-old CFB Shilo-based soldier was killed by a rocket-propelled grenade while she was riding in an LAV armoured vehicle during heavy fighting with Taliban guerrillas during a firefight with Taliban insurgents yesterday.
